Wouldn’t it be useful to have the possibility to record all the websites you liked while doing an online research, keeping the results organized and adding notes to each of them, so you won’t lose any information that might help you in your projects?
Back in February, Larry Cornett, Vice President at Yahoo! Search, was writing about a new feature that was to be introduced to Yahoo! Search in order to help users keep track of their searches and add notes while doing online research.
The Search Pad automatically detects when you’re in the research mode and gathers data about the visited websites, allowing you to share notes with others and access them from wherever you are.
Today Yahoo! is releasing the Search Pad feature that will be available for the public in a few hours.
In addition to taking notes, you also have the possibility to add images and store everything you collected from the Internet right on the Yahoo! homepage, along with links to the original sources,, in case you need to go back and copy some more text.
As soon as the smart tool automatically detects that your search activity looks like research you are asked if you’d like to take notes. If you choose Yes a window will open listing the websites you’ve visited so far, along with a short description and a thumbnail. Under each link you can simply paste the text fragment you have copied earlier. This is the Notes area.
After finishing the research you can save your work on your Yahoo! ID and check it back later.
