WD External Hard Drives With Electronic Label and Real-Time Backup

Western Digital introduced two new external hard drives with unique features for the pretentious PC user who needs a reliable and secure solution for data backup and external storage.
The first model is My Book Elite that comes with an e-label smart display located on one side, which is actually an e-paper display that can be set to show a label designed with the included WD SmartWare software. You can customize your label so you’ll always know what’s on the hard drive, and it will also show the available storage capacity and if the drive is locked with password protection and encryption.
The e-label will still be visible even when the hard drive is unplugged.

In addition to this useful feature, the My Book Elite desktop external hard drive provides automatic real-time backup via the software and 256-bit encryption.
It comes in 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB capacities for a price ranging between $169.99 and $279.99, while featuring USB 2.0 connectivity, and the WD GreenPower Technology to lower power consumption by 30%.

The other external hard drive is the My Passport Elite, designed to be portable. It has illuminated capacity gauge to allow users always know how much free space remained on the drive, as well as the padlock icon that indicates the 256-bit encryption with password protection. The included grab-and-go dock allows for quick connection with computers, while powering the drive via USB.
Like the WD My Book Elite, it too comes with the WD SmartWare software that enables automatic backup of all the data as you plug the drive in to your computer for the first time.

WD My Passport Elite comes in Metallic Blue, Metallic Red and Charcoal Metallic, in 320 GB, 500 GB and 640 GB capacities, at suggested retail prices ranging between $119 and $169.99.
