A portable computer of high performance featuring a smart power management system for increasing the battery life, paired with a small USB modem that connects to the Internet almost instantly, whenever you need, is the solution for increasing productivity while on the go.
Verizon Wireless launched the USB1000 Global Modem developed by Novatel Wireless, which not only provides high-speed wireless connectivity to the world wide web, but allows you to access the Internet outside of the United States as well.
The new modem is aimed at people who travel abroad often and need to stay in touch with friends and colleagues wherever they are.
Verizon specified that users can connect wirelessly via the modem in more than 175 zones, and you can get it for $149.99 together with a 2-year agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
You can do anything over the Internet, using the modem, including the most common tasks, such as browse web sites, download different files, check and compose emails, use Instant Messaging applications and so on.
Together with the global modem, Verizon also offers a few services.
While GobalEmail gives you access to personal and corporate email via a high-end smartphone, the Global Travel Program provides free voice and data access via the GSM coverage outside US for up to 21 days.
The Global Value Program is for people who travel often. It provides lower cost rates from150 destinations with GSM coverage for only $4.99 a month.
In addition, the Cruise Ship Services allow you to make and receive calls on major cruise lines.
For the GlobalAccess service you can spend $129.99 a month and receive 100MB in 31 destinations, $219.99 monthly for 200MB in 31 destinations, $59.99 monthly for 5GB, or $20 monthly. The third and fourth plans are included in the Pay Per Use service, which specifies rates of $0.002/KB in Canada, $0.005/KB in Mexico, and $0.02/KB in over 175 destinations.
