UPEK Releases new Software Version for Online Fingerprint Authentication

Coming from UPEK, the provider of various biometric fingerprint solutions, the Protector Suite 2009 software is the latest edition of the fingerprint sensor solution used in notebooks today. It now supports Windows 7 and the Windows Biometric Framework so it can be used with any WBF-supported fingerprint sensor.
It also supports Firefox 3.5 and Internet Explorer 8, while allowing users authenticate with their finger and forget about memorizing passwords.

Protector Suite 2009 can be used to logon to Windows, access password-protected sites and applications, encrypt personal files and folders, shop online, switch between user accounts at any time, and authenticate users on computers in corporate networks. For businesses, the software provides pre-boot authentication and multi-factor authentication.

Computers running the latest software version available in 22 languages need to have Windows XP,Windows Vista or Windows 7, either the 32-bit or the 64-bit edition.
While the full version can be purchased for only $19.99, users have the possibility to download the free trial of the limited version.

“Protector Suite 2009 offers a richer experience and compelling new features for current owners of UPEK-enabled laptops and Eikon fingerprint readers,” said Brian DeGonia, senior manager, product marketing at UPEK. “And with support for the Windows 7 Windows Biometric Framework, owners of laptops with non-UPEK fingerprint sensors can now for the first time enjoy a richer, more convenient experience that millions of Protector Suite users have enjoyed.”
