Preparing to release a new version of the popular Firefox web browser, Mozilla invites web developers and curious Firefox fans to test the release candidate.
Over 800,000 Firefox 3.5 3.5rc1build2 testers will receive a software update for the last tests and feedback. They will get several bug fixes that Mozilla says it will include in the final release of the browser version 3.5, which is to be available by the end of this month.
According to Mozilla, the latest update is stable, allowing users to perform their daily tasks via the web browser.
Beta testers can wait for the update to be delivered automatically or get it manually from the Help menu, by selecting the Check for Updates option.
For those who aren’t beta testers Mozilla will make available the Firefox 3.5 Release Candidate next week, but you still can sign up as beta tester by installing the latest version.
Like any other beta software, Firefox 3.5 Beta still can have several issues that might interfere with daily browsing, such as in the case of inexperienced users, and if this is your case Mozilla recommends you to wait for the official Firefox 3.5 release.
New features that you can expect from Firefox 3.5 include HTML 5 support for audio, video, offline resource specification, and dragging and dropping of items between sites. In addition it includes downloadable fonts, support for CSS media queries, support for Geolocation API, mouse gesture events, new JavaScript 1.8.1 features, cross-site access controls for HTTP, DNS prefeching, new canvas features, ICC color correction for tagged images, and different improvements at the security level.
