As some of you might know already, the most advanced Bluetooth technology existent in gadgets today is Bluetooth 2.1 that, in addition to the short-range wireless connectivity enabled by all versions of this technology, comes with Near Field Communication. The support for NFC enables automatic pairing of two gadgets featuring the same Bluetooth standard and allows for information exchange. For example, as a Bluetooth 2.1 handset comes close to a digital photo frame the pictures start to upload onto the frame automatically. The distance has to be of a few centimeters.
For handsets that don’t support this feature, Twinlinx introduced the MyMax NFC sticker. It is a very thin electronic sticker that practically sticks to your handset to enable NFC functionality so that you can use your own cell phone with various useful applications such as electronic payment.
Twinlinx also announced its collaboration with Microsoft to provide its new sticker with the upcoming cell phone model from Microsoft that will be released at the beginning of next month.
Benefits of using the sticker include support for various cell phone models, a very low price when compared to buying a new NFC phone, visual branding, independent operation from the phone, and the capability of storing multiple applications in a single digital sticker.
The product will be demonstrated with the Windows cell phone between October 6-8 at the IP convergence trade show in Paris and at the Cartes & Identification show between November 17-19.
