TomTom launched a new car kit for the iPhone, which is now available at the company’s online store, as well as at Apple’s web store. It allows iPhone owners to navigate and initiate phone calls safely while driving.
The key features of the car kit designed especially to work with the iPhone handsets include secure docking, enhanced GPS navigation, integrated loudspeaker, and microphone.
The secure mount allows docking the iPhone in the driver’s preferred position, right on the windshield or on the dashboard, via a twist-and-lock action, while the driver can rotate the handset to the portrait or the landscape mode for best route display.
The built-in GPS features advanced technologies that eliminate signal drops in areas with poor reception.
Drivers receive voice instructions via the integrated speaker, while having the possibility to talk on the phone handsfree.
The car kit from TomTom also charges the iPhone and plays music via the AUX OUT port over the car stereo.
It retails for EUR 99,99 and is compatible with iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS running on the Apple OS 3.0 or later. Currently the car kit is available in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, France, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, UK, and Switzerland.
