At the GadgetFest 2009 organized by CommNexus on November 3 in San Diego, EcoDog won the 2009 GadgetFest Greatest Gadget award for its innovative solution called FIDO Home Energy Monitoring Systems.
This system is meant to reduce electricity consumption in your home by monitoring its use in every room using a special software running on a home computer. Based on complex algorithms, the system combines energy consumption details with prices to show you how to reduce your electric bills significantly.
Key features include:
- The ability to record when home appliances run excessively;
- Keeps the energy usage details private on the home computer;
- Provides personalized tips for saving energy;
- Informs parents about how kids use the energy, providing remote On/Off function;
- Supports outlet control and remote access via email or SMS;
- Offers detailed monitoring with universal meter compatibility;
- Supports Smart Meters with complex billing schemes.
More than these, the FIDO system works with alternative energy generation such as wind or solar energy.
It saves about 15%-20% electricity every month.
Other participants at GadgetFest 2009 were: Verizon Wireless, Nokia, SilverPlus, FLO TV, ClimateMinder and TelCentris.
“It’s an honor to receive the Greatest Gadget award,” declared Ron Pitt, CEO EcoDog. “We were up against great companies with very cool products. This win validates how our technology solves problems that people face everyday. We’re excited that our FIDO home energy-monitoring system took first-place honors, and we look forward to developing more products to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints, while saving money.”
