New OC technology from MSI: OC Genie

MSI will present ay MOA European Final in Germany their newest generation of Easy OC Technology, OC Genie. OC Genie combines push-button and dedicated overclock processor. The first motherboard that benefits from this overclocking technology is MSI P55.

With OC Genie Processor and OC Genie Button, no hardware modification and BIOS setup are required. Just push the OC Genie button, OC Genie Processor will automatically detect the best overclocking setting and completely avoid complicated BIOS tweaking and possible hardware damage causes by overclocking failure. Compared to 10 to 30 minutes try and error of traditional overclocking method, user only need 1 second to get instant performance boost with OC Genie.

Using OC Genie you can boost your memory and CPU performance pushing only one button, with no extra cost. OC Genie also optimizes CPU voltages, memory clock and memory voltage. This way the overclocking stability will be increased substantially. According to MSI “memory optimization can avoid system instability which is caused by inappropriate memory setting; in the meantime find the best setting to boost full system performance.”

OC Genie will be implemented not only on MSI P55 product line, but also on AMD platform motherboards. This way all customers can practice overclocking without difficulty.

Based on the 45 nm architecture, the new Athlon II X2 processors are promoted as one of the best solutions when it comes to scalability, providng higher performance and overclocking when compared to the previous models. In addition, they are available at affordable prices, attracting more customers. These determined MSI to release the C770-C45 and C770-C35 motherboards with support for the Phenom II AM3 processors.

Customers can benefit from several new technologies developed by MSI, such as the APS power saving, the Easy OS Switch, and the MAX FSB overclocking.

The Active Phase Switching technology allows the control of the power supply using auto phase switching for the central processing unit and components. This involves automatic adjustment of the power according to the operating requirements.

Easy OS Switch is a great tool for switching between different overclocking levels without using the BIOS, while MAX FSB can be activated in order to provide the best settings for the processor, allowing the user adjust FSB and multiplier at the BIOS level in a matter of seconds.

Last but not least there’s the M-Flash technology which offers you the possibility to update or reset the BIOS from an USB drive in case you computer can’t start or is inoperable.

It’s clear that the two new MSI motherboards, C770-C45 and C770-C35, bring attractive features, but even if the manufacturer promises a cost-effective solution there is no word on prices yet.
