This latest edition looks and feels the same as the main one, but was developed for 64-bit processors, such as Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad and AMD Athlon X2 64.
The developers introduced several new enhancements, like the Suggestions feature in the mintMenu, which displays suggestions related to your searched keywords, even if you got no result after the applications filtering.

You can configure the keyboard keys to instantly open the menu, for example by simultaneously pressing the left Control key and the left Super (Windows) key.
When right-clicking on the trash icon you have now the option of emptying it.
Other enhancements can be found in mintInstall, mintUpdate, mintUpload, mintWelcome and the command line.

System requirements include the specific processor type, 512MB of RAM memory, and enough disk space for the 2.5GB compressed on the 700MB CD.
In case you just want to upgrade from the Release Candidate to Linux Mint 7 “Gloria” x64 you need to enable the “dist-upgrade” option in the preferences window and then refresh the list.

There are two options available to obtain the operating system: download the available torrent or the ISO, and order the live CD/DVD for $10.

Included new features of Fedora 12 are: PolicyKit 1.0 (grants users access to privileged operations, replacing the old userhelper), NetworkManagerIPv6 (IPv6 support for NetworkManager), liblvm (userspace library for LVM), Empathy (default Instant Messaging application), debuginfo filesystem, Multiseat (for multiple users working via the same system simultaneously), Dracut (the nash/mkinitrd replacement), Systemtap Static Probes, and NetworkManager System Connections (support for system-wide connections to NetworkManager).

Even if the list of the new features and enhancements is final, there have about 4 months left until the final release, so there’s enough time for the exact date to change a bit, like it happens with many systems coming from developers targeting perfection.

Fedora 11 was released a few days ago, more exactly on June 10, and is available for download from the official website updated by Red Hat and the other teams working on the big open-source project.

In the mean time, the Fedora Project planning involves freezing development by August 4, releasing the Alpha version on August 18, finishing the software translation by September 15, releasing the Beta version on October 6, composing the Release Candidate on October 20, and making the Fedora 12 Final Release available on November 3.
