In order to boost sales of its digital readers, Sony introduces two affordable eBook readers, making them accessible to a wider audience.
The Reader Pocket Edition is an 199-dollar portable digital reader sporting a 5-inch e-paper display and different color options for the chassis including rose, silver and navy blue. It is an easy-to-use pocketable gadget enabling one-hand operation and supporting about 350 eBooks, as well as two weeks of continuous operating time between recharges.
The Sony Reader Touch Edition has a 6-inch display with finger touch input support, intuitive interface and included stylus. You can use your finger, the stylus and the virtual keyboard to turn pages, highlight paragraphs and take notes. Also you have the possibility to change font sizes and export or print your notes at any time.
The eBook reader pre-loads the Oxford American English Dictionary that you can access for searching word definitions by tapping on it. It supports Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD memory cards.
Sony Reader Touch Edition comes with more features than the Pocket Edition and will retail for $299. It comes in black, red and silver.
The new digital readers will be available for purchase later this month sharing the E Ink Vizplex electronic paper display technology, protective sleeves, support for Mac computers, the company’s eBook Library software 3.0, support for Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word and BBeB files, and others.
