Pro Softnet Introduced the Free RemotePC Lite Service

Pro Softnet wanted to offer its customers a lightweight solution for remote file storage access, to provide computer users a classic and more secure alternative to cloud computing that has become popular lately. Its service called RemotePC Lite works like most remote PC access programs, just that it’s completely free to use, unlike the other solutions available from the same company, which are monthly subscription-based.

RemotePC Lite transforms your main computer into your personal cloud storage and allows you to access your files remotely from anywhere, even on an advanced mobile handset, such as the iPhone. Practically you can keep all your important files on the home computer, which can be a PC or Mac, and manage them, or upload new ones, from other computers located somewhere else. On the main computer you have to first set which files you want to access later, and these can include anything, from documents and pictures to emails.

Features of the free service include the possibility to access your files via any web browser or mobile handset, view pictures as thumbnails or other sizes, create file links for sharing with friends and colleagues, upload or download files from the computer via the Internet, and manage emails via Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail.

“Although online storage and sharing services are popular, there is a sizable user base that does not feel comfortable uploading their critical documents or images online due to privacy concerns,” said Divyanand, Project Lead for the RemotePC team. “Additionally, there is substantial amount of data on their PCs to transfer online. They prefer to have permissions based control over their data, host the data themselves and have real time access. RemotePC Lite is tailor made for them.”
