OpenBitTorrent to take over The Pirate Bay’s torrents?

Most of us know that The Pirate Bay was sold a few days ago. The disappointment following this news made a lot of people delete their accounts and ultimately abandon the site. The falling of this great tracker is thought to be irreversible, even if Global Gaming Factory (GGF) will try to bring The Pirate Bay to the condition of its glory days. One big question arises: what will happen to the tracker’s huge number of torrents? Well, the answer is: OpenBitTorrent, an open tracker project.

There are many reasons why you might need an open bittorrent tracker. Everybody seems to think that torrent trackers are used for illegal file sharing only, but there are software developers that use torrents to make their applications known. OpenBitTorrent is a bittorent tracker that can help them share their files. If, for instance, you don’t have enough space on your site and you need some large files to be available online it’s useful to have a open tracker. Also,  if you just need/want a single or a small number of torrent files but setting up your own tracker is not desirable.

OpenBitTorrent is a bittorent tracker that you can use without registering. It’s free and you can upload and index torrents from anywhere if you include the OpenBitTorrent tracker URL in your torrent. OpenBitTorrent appears to track every torrent in ThePirate Bay index.
