If there’s a Nokia handset I like a lot it’s the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, because of it’s mirror finish and the cool looking user interface accessible via the touchscreen display. That’s why I’m happy to tell you that the leading cell phone manufacturer has announced the release of the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition designed based on its successful predecessor, but bringing several new functionalities.
The new handset optimized for navigation comes with lifetime voice-guided DRIVE and WALK navigation tools and direct access to the latest edition of Ovi Maps with high-resolution aerial images, 3D landmarks, terrain maps, weather forecasts, travel and events information, as well as safety warnings. Users can access information on points of interest powered by Lonely Planet, Michelin and Wcities.
Like its predecessor, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition features a 3.2-inch 16M-color display, proximity sensor for automatic turn off, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, handwriting recognition, stereo speakers, 8GB built-in storage capacity, support for up to 16GB of external memory, high-speed Internet transfers, Wi-Fi, a 3.15MP camera with autofocus, LED flash and Carl Zeiss lens, videocall camera, stereo FM radio with RDS, A-GPS, Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch, email, HTML, Instant Messaging, and up to nine hours of continuous talk time.
It runs on the Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5, mobile operating system.
Nokia will make it available in stores starting the third quarter of this year for a starting price of €285.
