Yahoo! announced changing the homepage into something more flexible for its users who will benefit from a new level of customization.
Users from the United States can start using the new Yahoo! homepage from their computers and mobile handsets, while the company will make it available next week in the United Kingdom, France and India.
Things you can do on the new homepage include adding apps from Yahoo! and other web sites, as well as accessing these from any computer or cell phone with web browsing support. Users can then access their favorite content directly at any time.
According to Yahoo!, this is the most significant change to the homepage since the company was founded, and is meant to allow users to perform more tasks in shorter time in a single place.
A comScore Custom Research revealed that in the United States average persons visit about 85 web sites a month and Yahoo! is always trying to enable greater simplicity to the user’s experience on the web.
The new Yahoo! homepage brings several new features like My Favorites with 65 apps that you can add to your homepage right from the dashboard, and have access to various email providers, popular content sites, social networking and others.
Next there is the App Maker with which you can create your own apps, and the Trend Setter with snapshots of the most popular searches on the web.
PC to Mobile Synch is an upcoming feature that brings PC to mobile integration. News, For You provides local news, while Social Updates is the right place through which you can share your status with others.
