New Samsung LED Monitor With Green Features

The so-called “finger-slim” monitor introduced by Samsung in Korea is an ultra-slim and lightweight model with the stylish Touch of Color design and Starlight Touch Controls, called Samsung XL2370.
It sports a glossy finish and an acrylic neck that gives the look of a floating display.
In the company’s latest press release, the monitor is described as Samsung’s highest performance display featuring the LED technology for enabling the slim form factor and low power consumption.

When compared to other similar models, Samsung XL2370 consumes 40% less power for operation. More than that, in order to follow the eco-friendly trend of today’s electronics, it doesn’t use toxic materials like halogen and mercury. Even if it comes in an attractive design, the monitor didn’t need toxic paints and sprays, while the slim form factor, of maybe half an inch, reduces transportation costs and carbon footprint.

As for technical capabilities, the new monitor model from Samsung features an impressive 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2ms response time, Mega DCR, and full High Definition 1080p support.

The company announced its availability in Korean stores starting later this month, and in European countries starting August.
The retail price is not known yet.

“We expect the XL2370 will open a new era of the LED monitor market,” declared JaeYoung Lew of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Division. “Samsung will pave the way in the LED monitor market with beautiful design and superb functionality, while responding to the market needs for eco-friendly technology.”
