For IT professionals working in fields like 3D digital content creation, gas, oil and science, and need to rely their work on a powerful workstation, the new HP xw9400 is the first model of its kind providing the speed of the six-core AMD Opteron 2400 series processor.
The workstation is registered as an EPET Gold product and was optimized to enable higher productivity for mega-tasking environments, supporting two Six-Core AMD Opteron CPUs, totalizing 12 cores, each delivering 34% more performance per watt than previously launched quad-core CPUs.
The AMD HyperTransport 3.0 technology enables higher interconnect rates of up to 4.8 GT/s, while the workstation can be equipped with the ATI FirePro V7750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator.
As for the power, the HP xw9400 workstation uses an 80 PLUS power supply featuring much higher efficiency when compared to standard power supply.
According to the latest HP press release, the new workstation has a starting price of $1,899 and is available on HP’s website.
“The Six-Core AMD Opteron processor delivers top-line performance with no compromise in feature sets across the product line,” declared John Fruehe, director, Business Development, Server Workstation Business, AMD. “Including the Six-Core AMD Opteron processor and ATI FirePro V7750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator in the powerful HP xw9400 Workstation offers customers an optimal combination of computing performance and high-end graphics capability.“
