When your and your family members are using several computers in the same home the best solution for freedom of movement is to install a wireless router. This way each network user could access the Internet from any room, at any time, and the costs would be much lower than when using separate cable connections.
To sustain the wireless freedom, Netgear launched the first comprehensive parental controls for wireless routers, designed to protect all the devices connected to the Internet based on using OpenDNS’ flexible web filtering technology, which also enables remote management.
This new solution is called the Live Parental Controls and will be supported by select router models and gateways used in homes and small businesses.
Using the new product you can restrict access to specific web sites with unsafe or inappropriate content, filtering 50 content categories.
Netgear’s Wireless-N 300 is the first router model to support this solution, without requiring fees or subscription. Instead of setting the access rules on each computer in the network, you can do it on the router only and manage them remotely. Instructions can be found on the Smart Wizard Installation CD included with the router.
More than that, the Live Parental Controls also protect other mobile devices in addition to computers, such as PSP, iPod Touch and gaming consoles, with the condition to be part of the same wireless network.
Content filtering can be set for social networking sites, violence, pornography and others, while having the option to specify conditions like per-user or per-time.
The Netgear Wireless-N 300 Router is available for purchase worldwide and retails for $99.99.
