The new rugged cell phone coming from Motorola and called Motorola Barrage will be available for Verizon Wireless customers who need a durable and resistant handset packing professional mobile applications. It can resist under water for up to 30 minutes and is made from glass, chrome, rubber and mesh to protect the internal parts from vibrations, shock, rain, extreme temperatures, dust particles and solar radiation.
In addition, the handset features the Push-to-Talk technology that enables Walkie-Talkie-style conversations with multiple users simultaneously, at the press of a button. Other features include a built-in 2MP digital camera with video recording capability, and dual speakers for a powerful sound.
As it will be available via Verizon Wireless, it gives users access to several services like the V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video on Demand and the VZ NavigatorSM.
Motorola Barrage is a clamshell measuring 96 x 53 x 24 mm at 119 grams, which is equipped with a 1140 mAh Li-Ion battery to provide up to 6.4 hours of continuous talk time, a 2.2-inch TFT LCD display of 65K colors, external color display, expandable memory, Bluetooth 2.1, S-GPS, and support for multiple numbers per contact in the phone book.
You’ll be able to get it from Verizon’s online store for $129.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate and a new 2-year contract. It will arrive in stores On November 16 and you’ll also find the camera-free version starting October 21.
