The push technology is a method of communicating over the Internet used in various applications such as instant messaging, email, online auctions/betting, online games, monitoring consoles and so on, while the most familiar one is Windows Update that delivers software updates to your computer automatically. It is the opposite of the pull technology used for RSS feeds, which unlike push, where the request is made by the server to push data to the clients, it starts from the client side.
MobileMe is a popular service provided by Apple to its customers, which works based on the push method. It delivers emails, calendar events and contacts to your Apple devices like a personal computer, iPhone and iPod touch, over the air, while providing the iDisk online storage service through which you can access and share your files online with the others.
You can use iDisk from any web browser, on any computer, to upload your files using the simple drag-and-drop method.
The support for the iPhone and iPod touch was just announced by Apple, so now you can use MobileMe iDisk on your mobile handset to view iWork and Microsoft Office documents, QuickTime videos and PDFs. To share files you only have to tap the share icon of each file and email download links.
In order to be able to install the free application on the iPhone, the handset needs to run on the iPhone OS 3.0 system. You can find it at the Apple App Store.
