Great news for IPhone 3GS users, today GeoHot released the jailbreak software for IPhone 3GS OS 3.0. This unlock uses the same at+xlog vulnerability which is used to unlock your iPhone 3G. All you will have to do is download a small application of only 350KB – PurpleRa1n.exe (Windows Only). Windows 7 or MacOS are not yet supported, so you will have to use Windows Vista or Windows XP.
Before starting, make sure you have the latest version of ITunes installed. Connect your IPhone 3GS to the computer and click on make it ra1n button. Wait. On boot up, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer application. That’s it. Now your IPhone is unlocked.
You don’t need any iBEC and iBSS signature files for jailbreaking your iPhone 3GS OS 3.0 but make sure to capture these files for upcoming OS 3.1 jailbreak. PurpleRa1n doesn’t need to put your phone in DFU mode, you don’t need firmware. Just a simple click will take care of your Jailbreak process.
So here you have it, a small application to free your IPhone from all constraints. You have just a big button to push. You can now go crazy with the themes, applications and anything else you may need to have a pimped out phone.
