Imagine having a printer that connects to the Internet and allows you to browse popular digital content on a touchscreen display located on its front.
This way you could benefit from a lot of things, such as read and print the latest news, movie tickets, recipes and even discount coupons, without even using your computer.
Well, this is not impossible anymore as HP has just introduced the world’s first printer with Internet connectivity and access to popular online content.
In order to deliver useful content to the future users of the HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web printer model, the manufacturer partnered with Google, USA TODAY, Fandango, Coupons.com, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Web Sudoku and Weathernews. By accessing these online sites you get cool applications including real-time news, movie trailers, coupons, maps, personal calendars and many others, via the 4.33-inch touchscreen LCD display, said to be the largest of its kind, featured by an all-in-one inkjet printer.
I guess it won’t be a PC-like experience, but it would surely be fun to use, thanks to HP’s intuitive TouchSmart panel technology and the possibility to customize the content display mode according to your needs.
The new printer model brings pre-loaded applications, but users also can download additional ones from the HP Apps Studio.
In addition to the instant web access, HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web printer can fax, copy and scan documents, like any other all-in-one model, while enabling both wired and wireless connectivity via USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
You can get the printer this fall for $399 from the United States.
