God of War is a PlayStation 2 video game released in 2005 by Sony Computer Entertainment, which was named the Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the greatest PlayStation 2 game of all time by IGN.
Based on the success of the original game, there was a sequel released in 2007, called God of War II, as well as a prequel called God of War: Chains of Olympus in 2008 for the PlayStation Portable gaming system. The third game in the series is, of course, God of War III, which will be launched for the PlayStation 3 next year.
God of War is a third-person action game about Kratos, a former captain in the army of Spartans, who commits suicide by jumping off the cliff into the Aegean Sea, and the whole story consist of flashbacks from the main character’s past. It involves gods and creatures from the Greek mythology, magic abilities, environmental puzzles and others.
Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the launch of God of War III Ultimate Edition, a collector’s pack available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 gaming system, worldwide.
The special collection comes in a nice box inspired by Pandora’s Box and is available for pre-orders, with shipping set to start in March 2010. Players who pre-order the God of War III Ultimate Edition will receive a free voucher code for the PlayStation Network to get the God of War III E3 2009 demo.
Along with the God of War III and the art book, players will get access to a movie documentary about the history of the God of War game series, the God of War Trilogy soundtrack, the God of War Heavy Metal EP, access to the God of War Combat Arena with seven challenges, and an exclusive Kratos skin.
God of War III Ultimate Edition has a suggested retail price of $99.99.
