Future pet: Sega Toys Dream Cat Venus

Future pet: Sega Toys Dream Cat Venus

Are you a busy individual that would like to have a pet but not to care for it? Well Sega Toys Japan just unveiled their newest creation: Yume Neko “Dream Cat” Venus. Following their previous electronic-cat, Yume Neko Smile, this life-sized Norwegian Forest Cat has more possible movement and interacts more naturally having the ability to react to the sound of your voice.

To make this toy as realistic as possible, Sega Toys worked with scientists from Tohoku University’s Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer in Northern Japan to get “Dream Cat” Venus to react to certain voice and touch stimuli. For example, to make this kitty purr you have to say “there there” in Japanese.

Having sensors present in the body and one in the forehead allow the robotic cat to respond to your petting and also move around and lay down. This battery-powered pet is 490 x 240 x 230 mm in size and is delivered with a plastic comb so you can take care of its fur.  Yume Neko “Dream Cat” Venus will make its appearance on the Japanese market on July 30th, with a price of approximately $110.

Having a pet just became really easy. You don’t even have to worry about allergies, flees or ruined furniture. You can be away from home for as long as you like and when you come back this robo-kitty will still be there, just as you left it.
