Eye-Fi is the world’s first wireless memory card that plugs into your digital camera’s memory card slot to connect to your wireless network in order to transfer pictures and videos. To do that it features built-in Wi-Fi capability.
Now the card comes equipped with support for upload of videos from the camera to a Facebook account without keeping the home computer turned on. Friends are alerted every time you upload something, like pictures and videos, to one of your 25 accounts on sharing sites.
The Eye-Fi card is available for prices ranging between $49 and $149 at the official website, Apple Retail Stores, Best Buy, Amazon and Walmart. Card types include the 4GB Eye-Fi Share Video and the Eye-Fi Explore Video, both supporting video and photo upload and sharing, while the second card model also can geotag pictures automatically with location data.
In addition to Facebook support, Eye-Fi developers announced the launch of The Eye-Fi Haunted Video Contest for the Halloween, through which all Eye-Fi users are invited to upload their Halloween-themed videos on Eye-Fi Facebook and win an Eye-Fi-enabled Casio camera and an Eye-Fi Share Video card.
“We make sharing videos with friends and family as easy as possible, so memories are fresh and relevant when they hit the Web,” said Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi. “Facebook is clearly a favorite site to share videos and we’ve made it effortless to do so, just in time for Halloween, one of our users’ most popular memory sharing holidays.”
