On February 9 2009, Amazon announced the Kindle 2 which became available for purchase on February 23, 2009. Now, British company Elonex announced their own EBook Reader for the price of 189 £.
The Elonex EBook Reader is delivered with 100 of the all time classic free eBooks, a free Mains charger and data cable. For another 29 £ you get an optional eBook Accessory Pack: a luxury leather eBook case and a 4GB expansion card allowing up to 8000 eBooks to be stored.
At 9mm thick and only 180g it’s incredibly thin and light. The battery’s life lets you enjoy up to 8000 pages between charges- that’s equivalent to about 3 months reading for the average reader. The eBooks are available for download Borders UK. There you may choose from a variety of 45000 eBooks.
The Elonex eBook is compatible with the free Adobe Digital Editions software, which is rapidly becoming the industry standard for downloading and protecting a customer’s eBook purchases. The Elonex eBook is one of the first to market with this technology and supports DRM protected reflowable PDF and ePub formats, as well as other less widespread eBook formats and images/pictures.
