Latitude XT2 XFR is the smallest 12-inch rugged convertible tablet PC with multi-touch input, according to Dell. It was designed to meet the working environments in field service, law enforcement, military and others similar.
The tablet measures only 1.5 inches in thickness, which makes it the thinnest of its kind, while having a 12.1-inch display and a total weight of only 5.4 pounds, this including the 4-cell battery.
It uses the Solid State Drive technology for storing files and can be mounted in the car, like for example in first-responder vehicles, while field workers can use it in harsh environments without worrying about water spills and extreme temperatures that could cause damages.
The tablet is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo processor technology and supports up to 5 GB of DDR3 system memory. It has Wireless draft N support, Bluetooth 2.1 and mobile broadband connectivity support.
The QuadCool Thermal Management System is an advanced technology that maintains it at the optimal performance levels in temperatures ranging between 10 degrees and 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Besides the 4-cell battery included in the basic configuration, Dell’s new rugged tablet PC can be equipped with a 4-cell, 6-cell or even a 9-cell battery for longer operating times.
Security features include the Dell ControlVault, Dell ControlPoint and full SSD encryption.
Optional elements are a hot-swappable GPS module, an expansion sliver for camera, and docking solutions.
Dell will release it in the United States, Canada, Spain, Germany, Italy, France and the United Kingdom for a starting price of $3,599.
