New things brought by the latest version include improved performance, faster start-up times, improved support for wireless cards, and support for Ext4 filesystem.
Next, the lxpanel from the previous version is replaced with a lightweight tint2 panel/taskbar, Deluge is replaced by the Transmission BitTorrent client, there is a new fullVim installation included and new Pyroom full-screen editor. Not at last, the distribution brings several fixes and small improvements, such as the documentation to default configuration files, Openbox menu items, as well as new Openbox and GTK themes.
The new popular free Linux-based operating system, said to be a faster Ubuntu, comes with several popular applications like the Firefox web browser with Flash plugin, the Rhythmbox music player and VLC media player with codecs pre-installed, the Skype VoIP client, Gwibber microblogging client, and GIMP for photo editing.
Other characteristics of CrunchBang Linux include a similar user interface with Ubuntu, support for popular media formats, and it’s highly configurable.
