Apple Remote 1.3 Supports Gestures

Apple Remote 1.3 Supports Gestures

Apple TV is an innovative small device that brings high definition content and iTunes music right on your home TV panel. Using the Remote application on an iPhone, along with Apple TV, you can control your media right from the handset.
The software enables remote control capability on the iPhone and the new version updates the application with support for finger gestures.

Using both the Apple TV 2.4 and Remote version 1.3 on the multi-touchscreen smartphone you have the possibility to control the media in more ways, such as using flick, drag and tap gestures.
For example, if you want to play or pause a song or video you need to tap it. By flicking left or right you can skip to the next song, or if it’s about a video, it rewinds or fast-forwards.
Dragging left or right enables fast-forwarding or rewinding, while dragging two fingers left, in video playback, it will invoke a 10-second replay.

In addition to the option of searching photos on Flickr by tags and set them as screen savers for the Apple TV, you can check the new view option that allows you select movies by genre, movie or unwatched, while TV shows or podcasts can be selected by date, show or unwatched.

Another update is found in the transport and chapter modes, where you can do fast forward or rewind during video playback, by right- or left-clicking. If you want to see chapter markers you need to click down.

If you’d like to use gestures and control movies, TV shows and music in a funnier way, you need to download Remote 1.3 from iTunes on an iPhone or iPod touch running on the latest operating system, iPhone OS 3.0.
